Community Solar Energy Pilot Program

The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (“BPU”) recently announced that it has approved a proposed rule to establish a Community Solar Energy Pilot Program.  The three year pilot program is intended to generate critical market information and data to assist the development of a new market for solar generation in New Jersey and new opportunities for consumers and developers.  Customers that have been previously unable to install solar panels may now have the opportunity to remotely participate in solar energy projects and receive a credit on their utility bills.  The anticipated proposed rule is expected to be published in the New Jersey Register in the coming weeks, followed by a 60-day comment period.

BPU’s full press release, and additional information, can be viewed on their website.
