Questions
Q. What inspired you to become an environmental attorney?
A. I have always had an interest in the natural world, spending a lot of time growing up hiking mountains, swimming in creeks, and observing nature, even in the urban setting of NYC. During my time as a Park Ranger on Staten Island, I gained a deeper understanding of the increasing threats to these places: polluted waters, disappearing green spaces, and communities suffering from environmental injustice. I realized that protecting the environment required action, advocacy, and the ability to influence policy. This drove me to pursue a career in environmental law, where I could combine my commitment to justice with my desire to defend the planet and those most affected by its degradation.
Q. What excites you most about the field of environmental law?
A. What excites me most about environmental law is its power to create change, not just for the environment, but for people and communities as well. It’s a field where science, justice, and policy intersect, and where legal action can protect entire ecosystems, hold polluters accountable, and ensure that vulnerable populations aren’t left behind. I’m inspired by the opportunity to be a voice for the planet, to work on the front lines of climate change, and to shape laws that promote sustainability and environmental equity.
Q. How do you connect with your clients?
A. I believe that building a strong connection with clients begins with listening, not just to the facts of their case, but to their concerns, values, and goals. I strive to create a space where clients feel heard, respected, and comfortable asking questions or expressing uncertainty. To me, every matter is deeply personal to the client, and I approach each one with empathy, diligence, and integrity. I aim to be not only their advocate, but also a reliable and compassionate guide through what is often a complex and stressful process. Building trust is at the core of how I work, and I’m committed to ensuring clients feel supported every step of the way.
Q. What are your interests outside of the office (hobbies, activities)?
A. In my free time, I love being outdoors. I am an avid hiker, having hiked all of the high peaks in the Catskill Mountains, and I am currently working toward summiting all 46 high peaks in the Adirondacks. Camping with my cats is another favorite past time, perfect for relaxing and spending time reading in nature. During the winter months, I enjoy skiing and ice skating. I also bring my love for the environment into my home by collecting and caring for over 100 houseplants.
